His Word Is Alive

His Word Is Alive

God’s Word is as much alive today and as valid today, in every aspect, as it was the day it was written.  When Jesus was crucified on the cross at Calvary, rose from the dead, and then ascended to the right hand of the Father, He did not do away with his word.  Miracles did not pass away after the apostles all died.  There is no where in the Bible that tells us that any part of His Word would cease to be invalid.

If salvation is for today, then so is healing.  If salvation is for today, then so is prosperity.  If salvation is for today, then so is deliverance.  If salvation is for today, then so is being filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  Every single part of God’s Word is for today and just as valid as it has always been.

It never ceases to amaze me that people want to pick and choose what part of the Bible they want to believe.  Personally, I believe that the reason that some people choose not to believe certain parts of the Bible is because then they feel as though they are “off the hook” when something doesn’t happen the way they think it should.

Let me explain.  Salvation is an easy thing and something that just about every Christian denomination teaches is relevant today.  Someone can come to an altar and give their life to the Lord, change their ways, and be a better person and everyone will cheer them on because of the change they see in that person.  On the contrasting side, someone gets sick and they immediately start talking stupid.  That’s right, I said the word stupid.  They say things like “God must be teaching me something”, or “I guess this is what I get for all those years of not living right” or “I guess God just needs another angel and so it is my time to go as He is calling me away”.  Ladies and gentlemen, I say this with absolute love and compassion, but those kinds of statements are just plain stupid.

There is no faith in that kind of talk.  There is no scripture to back up that mindset.  There is no comfort or joy when these kinds of statements come out of your mouth.  First, God does not make anyone sick……period!  God is a good and loving Father who wants the best for you and me.  He wants us to be healthy and prosper.  (3 John 1:2) He is still the God that heals us. (Exodus 15:26)

Everything that we want God to do for us must come from a place of faith.  It must come from a place that is rooted and grounded in the Word.  The reason people don’t get healed, aren’t prosperous, lack in emotional stability, is because they are not rooted in the Word.  They lack the knowledge and understanding that it takes to break free in those areas.  Either that or they simply don’t believe that these kinds of things are for us today.

Some people use staying sick as a way to avoid doing what it takes to prove that the Word of God is right. They are motivated by fear.  What do I mean by this?  I mean, they stay sick because they are afraid that if they believe God to be healed and they don’t get healed then they have to explain to people why.  The same goes for any other area as well.

My point in all of this is very simple.  As we are about to embark on the season when we celebrate what Jesus did on Calvary, we must do so in an attitude of accepting the fullness of what He did.  Salvation was only a brief part of why He went to the cross.  He went for our entire person, spirit, soul, and body!  He went so that we could have life and have it more abundantly.  He went so that He could restore us to the place that He created man to be in from the beginning.

Take this time to just start thanking Him for what He did for you on the cross.  Spend time studying His Word and learning of Him.  Find out what the Bible says about you and then dare to believe Him to perform His Word on your behalf and see what mighty things He will do!
